Getting Here

From Calgary: Ross Medical is about 80 minutes from Calgary International Airport (YYC), straight up the QEII.

From Edmonton: about 75 minutes from Edmonton International Airport (YEG), straight down the QEII.

Flying in: either airport works equally well. Red Deer is close enough that most out-of-province patients fly into YYC or YEG, rent a car, and drive the rest.

The clinic address is 4814 50 Street, Red Deer, Alberta, at Ross Medical, the only accredited multisurgical non-hospital surgical facility (NHSF) in Central Alberta.

How the Visits Are Structured

Your initial consultation is free and takes place by telephone, so there is no travel involved at that stage. We typically speak with new patients within 1–2 weeks. The procedure itself is usually booked within 1 to 3 months of the consultation; the calendar alongside shows current procedure availability, and a cancellation list is available if you can travel on short notice. For most patients this means a single trip to Red Deer for the day of surgery.

On the day, the operation takes roughly two to three hours and is done as a day case. Under local anaesthetic you are awake throughout, discharge is quick, and the cord block keeps you comfortable for several hours afterward.

The Night After Surgery

For out-of-town patients we recommend staying in Red Deer for at least one night after the procedure, with someone else driving you home the next day. The first 24 hours are about rest, ice, and support. Full post-operative instructions are on our Aftercare page; desk workers typically return to work within 3–5 days.

Why Patients Travel to Red Deer

For most, it comes down to the procedure itself and the practicalities around it. The reversal can be done awake, under ultrasound-guided local anaesthetic, at $7,000 all-in plus GST. Waiting times are short, with a telephone consultation within 1–2 weeks and surgery usually within 1–3 months. The operation takes place at an accredited NHSF with hospital-grade safety standards in a private clinic. Our pricing page sets out every fee and the financing options.

Coming From Further Away

We regularly see patients from British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and beyond. Because the consultation is telephonic, everything up to the day of surgery can be arranged from home; contact the office and we will help you plan the one trip you do need to make.
